About this Website

The SSBP website was first placed online in March 2011.

Browser Requirements

This site will look best if viewed in a later model web browser with full support for HTML 4.01 and cascading style sheets (CSS2). For full functionality and security your browser must also support javascript and popup windows. You can easily check if your browser can handle these simple requirements.

Internet Explorer users: you may need to add ssbpconference.org to your list of trusted websites in order to prevent javascript from being blocked.

The site has been extensively tested and should display as intended using the following common browsers:

Internet Explorer version 6 or greater
Opera version 7 or greater
Safari, and other webkit based browsers such as Google Chrome, Iron, and Konqueror
Firefox, and other gecko based browsers such as Mozilla and Netscape 6 (both no longer developed), and K-meleon

Firefox

The Firefox browser is very highly recommended for viewing this site. Firefox is free and open source. It's small, fast, standards adherent, secure, and available for Windows, MacOS X and Linux.

You appear to be using to view this site. Older browsers with incomplete CSS2 and HTML4.01 support (particularly Netscape 4 and Internet Explorer 4) and text mode browsers may not display this site 100% correctly. Those without javascript support may not actually be usable for online registration/abstract submission. It is increasingly difficult to author attractive and functional modern webpages while maintaining backwards compatibility with superseded browsers which have incomplete support for basic web standards. This site is relatively light on graphics and with a simple layout it should be quick to load and easy to navigate. You do not require any exotic plugins to view content.

Details

The web pages on this site have all been authored on a system running Xubuntu Linux, using free open source software (Bluefish HTML editor, HTML tidy, Gimp image processing, OpenOffice word processing). All HTML code has been validated as correct HTML 4.01.
