Welcome to SSBP 2013
The SSBP is delighted to invite you to join us in Stellenbosch, South Africa for the 16th SSBP International Research Symposium and Educational Day. The Research Symposium will take place on Thursday and Friday, 12th and 13th September 2013. The Educational Day will be on Saturday, 14th September 2013.
The theme for the 2013 meeting is ‘The fundamentals of behavioural phenotypes’. Given that this will be the first SSBP meeting in Africa, our goal is to present a programme that will represent the breadth and depth of research and clinical work in the neurodevelopmental and neurobehavioural aspects of genetic disorders and other biologically determined syndromes.
Topics will therefore range from fundamental discussions around autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disability, epilepsy and sleep disorders to targeted discussions about the behavioural phenotypes of specific genetic syndromes. Abstracts are therefore invited on ALL topics related to behavioural phenotypes. Given that South Africa has one of the highest rates of foetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) in the world, we will also have a mini-symposium on FASD.
The keynote and invited speakers will represent a mix of internationally leading experts. The educational day will be particularly designed to provide expert updates on topics of direct clinical relevance.
